When it is a
question of working for the community – definitely acts and
activities on Community Health and Sanitation comes to the mind
of almost all development thinkers, activists and policy makers
with the broad goal of promoting human development index of a
country that has direct relation to its development. No doubt,
the efforts of Government and Non-Government agencies have
definitely provided a path to fight the chronic health problems
of the poor. More particularly, with the emergence of P3 concept
– this vital task has been undertaken more critically with due
weight to all the associated aspects. Some of the interwoven
aspects like abject poverty, illiteracy, lack of awareness,
corrupt practice and interference of vested interests have made
this venture more difficult to achieve. However, to complement
and supplement Government efforts – Badlao Foundation has been
instrumental in promoting grass roots level cadres, associating
them with local level health workers, ensuring interface among
the service providers, rapport development with Govt. line
departments. This has resulted in some impacts over these years.
Still – we feel – that keeping hand in hand with the community
and associating with Govt. in a true cooperative manner, we have
to go a long way ahead with the motto of ensuring/facilitating
services/provisions to people of un-reached areas to enable the
most deprived people to avail benefits/privileges legitimately.
