Badlao
Foundation has implemented the Total Sanitation Campaign
Programme in revenue villages of Jamtara block of Jamtara
district.
As the TSC project implementation is strongly guided by the
principles of demand-responsive approach, there is a need to
develop appropriate district-specific Project Implementation
Plan (PIP), taking into consideration the baseline situation
of the project target operational area. Hence, before preparing
the PIP, a baseline survey was conducted by Badlao Foundation to
assess the availability, priorities, and people’s knowledge,
attitudes, and practices in rural water supply and sanitation in
Jamtara district.
Following
activities are undertaken to ensure promotion of total
sanitation in the intervened areas :

Promotion of personal hygiene through awareness campaign. |

Promotion of home sanitation – through individual
awareness and community efforts. |
|
Safe water – Cleansing, Chlorinating and Adoption of
methods for safe disposal, conservation, regeneration of
water. |
|
Garbage disposal – through community and individual
efforts (campaign, awareness generation). |
|
Excreta disposal and waste water disposal – at family and
community level. |
